The Avaya Softphone is a full feature telephony client supporting standard telephony features on a PC running supported Microsoft operating systems (including Windows 7). Support of several audio options, including wireless headsets yields added flexibility.

The Softphone can run in two different operating modes:

1) Softphone client mode:

The Softphone has its own User interface, similar to a standard IP Office telephone for making calls, transferring calls, multiple call appearances or conference calls. A programmable feature button list enables one-touch access to standard IP Office features. A flexible user interface allows customizable adjustments for personal preferences.

The Softphone can also be configured so it is minimized to the system tray when not being used, to smaller or larger configurations in order to save desk space.

2) Softphone Application mode:

The Softphone runs in the background and standard call control is achieved using productivity applications (e.g. one-X Portal for IP Office).
